Selvin’s early years were filled with challenges, as he lost his father when he was just 7 years old. This forced him to work from a young age to support his family, enduring hardship and mistreatment. These personal struggles instilled in Selvin a deep desire to help underprivileged children. Both he and Heydi are committed to providing love and care for children in need, motivated by their own experiences of overcoming adversity. In addition, Selvin has a passion for automotive mechanics and hopes to develop his skills further in this area in the future.

In 2022, Selvin and Heydi joined the team at Hogar de la Promesa. They first connected with the children through their church's Sunday Bible School and later began working alongside Jim and Sandra Murphy in ministry, preaching, and delivering food to remote mountain communities. After some time, they both felt a strong calling from God to serve as parents to the children at Promise Home. They spent a month in prayer, and after deep reflection, they made the decision to leave their former lives and fully dedicate themselves to this ministry, providing the children with a loving home and guidance rooted in their faith.
